Buffalo History Museum and the Darwin Martin House

This merit badge class is the first of its kind as the Darwin Martin House and Buffalo History Museum are collaborating to bring you the Enginereing Merit Badge Event. 

Learn the role engineering played in our local history as seen through the lens of the Buffalo History Museum and the Darwin Martin House.  Scouts will arrive at the Darwin Martin House where they will learn about the architecture, engineering and materials of a Prairie Style House.  Students will tour the house and learn about the I-Beam, the historic structure, and the geothermal wells.  Scouts will then experiment with geothermal energy.

After lunch, scouts will travel to the Buffalo History Museum where they will learn about the incredible importance of the Erie Canal and early transportation and will design a new piece of patrol equipment.

This is a full uniform event!  Scouts must bring a blue merit badge card signed by a Unit Leader but all requirements must be completed before receiving final signature. Scouts must provide their own lunch.  Parents or Scout Leader must be in attendance as they will drive scouts to the History Museum after lunch for the second portion.  Adults may register for a tour of the Dawrin Martin House and History Museum  for a $25.00 fee.
