Free Educational Resources for Scouts

The Verizon Foundation Pioneers offer free educational resources to educational institutions, after-school programs and anyone involved with the education of children, including Scouting.

Here are several resources that GNFC feels may be appropriate for Units.  Check them out.  For more information, contact Phil Hahn at 675-3522 or send him an e-mail.  He'll be happy to discuss the resources or even demo them for you.

And remember, they are free of charge.

E911 Demonstrations - emergency phone demonstrations for preschool and elementary school aged children.

Power Up to Read - an engaging multimedia reading program with universally designed features to help all levels of students learn reading comprehension strategies. (NOTE: This links you to a login page, you'll need to speak with Phil for more details.)

Project Connect - a series of 7 web-based learning applications that combine a fun, gaming experience with educational content related to our everyday experiences with telecommunications technology.

Thinkfinity - powerful education and literacy tools to teachers, librarians, students, parents and non-profits.

The Verizon Foundation Pioneers are a member of Pioneers, a 501(C)(3) non-profit volunteer organization comprised of current and retired employees of telecommunications companies across North America.  The mission of the Verizon Pioneers is to be a network of volunteers who effect immediate, tangible change in local communities through educational and Community Service projects.
