Leave No Trace Master Educator Course
This is a 2-part course: May 12th-14th and May 26th-29th, 2017
$280.00 paid to Greater Niagara Frontier Council.
A $50.00 deposit is required. The balance is due on May 1, 2017. May 1 is the deadline for registrations (assuming space is still available.) Early registration is encouraged to avoid being closed out. Fee includes food, lodging, course materials and LNT membership.
5/12-5/14: Camp Scouthaven in the Niagara Frontier Region of NYS
5/26-5/29: Camp Cutler in the Finger Lakes Region of NYS
1st weekend at Camp Scouthaven starting at 7:00 PM on Friday 5/12 & ending at 12:30 PM on Sunday 5/14.
2nd weekend involves backpacking on the Finger Lakes Trail/Camp Cutler starting at 1:00 PM on Friday 5/26 & ending at 1:00 PM on Monday 5/29.
WHO MAY PARTICIPATE:
Registered Scouters 18 years of age or older with an interest and passion for Outdoor Ethics. All participants should be familiar with Basic Hiking and Camping Skills. The backpacking portion of the course involves trekking up to three miles daily on easy/moderate terrain. Personal gear can be transported for those participants with physical limitations.
Participants must complete a BSA Medical and bring the signed form to the first weekend of the course.
A pre-course survey will be electronically sent to participants in late April, 2017.
As an option, a T.R.E.A.D. Lightly orientation will be offered beginning at noon on Friday, May 26. T.R.E.A.D. Lightly is a component of BSA outdoor ethics with an emphasis on motorized/mechanized use in the outdoors.
