Publicize Your Unit's Community Service Projects!

Publicize Your Unit's Community Service Projects!

Our first "Good Turn" new articles are now posted on the RJD Good Turn Page > - your unit's projects can too!  How?  If you see or hear of a good community service project, Eagle Scout Leadership project or other worthy story worth sharing, write it up and send it to us.  We'll post it on the Red Jacket web site and help promote it to the local newspapers and other media outlets.

Here's what you need to do:

  • Take a few pictures of the project, showing the work in progress, ideally with people doing the work (painting, planting, digging...)
  • Jot down the names of the people in the picture
  • Write up a couple paragraphs about the project, covering the basics (who, what, when, where, why...)
  • Send it via email to rjdmarketing@wnyscouting.org >

We'll take it from there!

Football Legend and Eagle Scout to Speak

You Are Invited to a Special Event

Join us to hear the profoundly uplifting story of Don Holleder; WNY native, Eagle Scout Class of '48 and Vietnam War hero.

  • Wednesday, May 11th at 10:00 am
  • Greater Niagara Frontier Council Service Center

Author Terry Tibbetts will be on hand at the Service Center to recount Holleder's story, answer questions and sign copies of his new book, "A Spartan Game."

This is the story of a young man who gave up his football dreams, and his life, to be of service to his country. A story for any young person looking for a positive role model.

By now most units should have participated in a Friends of Scouting presentation.  This important effort provides much needed funding for a wide variety of Scouting programs and infrastructure that all scouts and their leaders depend on.

If you've already hosted a presentation, please make an extra appeal to your parents at the next meeting - reminding them to make a pledge and contribute thier "fare share".

For more information or assistance, contact Christina Sees at 512-6201 or christina.sees@scouting.org
