Birchbark Expeditions
Outdoor Canoe Trip Shakedown and Training Day

A VERY IMPORTANT all-day shakedown and training session for all crew members and adult advisors participating in Birchbark Expeditions.  Topic covered will include:

  • "Typical Day on the Trail"
  • Crew Tarp Setup
  • Canoe Skills I & II
  • Camp Skills
  • Portaging Techniques
  • Safety Issues
  • Wilderness Tripping Techniques
  • The Forgotten Skills

Please arrive in your "expedition" clothes, just like you plan to push off on Monday in Algonquin. Each participant should also bring:

  • Personal equipment in dry bag
  • Compass
  • Water Shoes
  • Change of clothes
  • Morning Snack Lunch
  • Tarp and ropes for your crew
