District Director News

District Director’s Minute:

                2013 is off to a great start for Red Jacket.  We had our Klondike Derby this past weekend with 245 members of the District attending.   Despite the snow melting throughout the day on Saturday, we had great Scout spirit from our patrols.   If anyone has any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

                Red Jacket is also proud to announce its newest District Executive Melissa Schreiber.  Melissa started on January 14th and has hit the ground running.  She looks forward to meeting everyone in the District, and if you ever need to get a hold of her, 716-512-6201 or Melissa.Schreiber@scouting.org is the best way to do so.

Calendar Reminders

Red Jacket Committee Meeting

February 11th, 2013 - 7:00 - 9:00 PM

This meeting is open to all district committee members, members at large, and any other Scouters interested in the functions of the Red Jacket district.  Core agenda includes committee reports from:  Advancement, Training, Activities, Membership, Finance, Camping, and Marketing.

Coffee and Networking starts at 6:30
Meeting starts promptly at 7:00 PM

Calendar Reminders

Roundtables are Back!!!

Roundtables are back! Held the second Wednesday of every month from 7pm-9pm at Hamburg High School, 4111 Legion Drive.  There will be Cub Scout and Boy Scout breakouts as well as Youth Protection and Den Leader Specifics training offered for those who need it.   If you should have any questions regarding Roundtables, please contact Andy Loeb at asloeb@cs.com

Leader Recognition and Awards Corner

             There are many Scouters who deserve to be recognized.  Please read below and nominate your choice(s).  The applications can be found on our web Site at www.wnyscouting/resources  Permits and Forms.

            Applications for Annual Awards nominations are Due February 14, 2013. Awards we are taking nominations for is:

·         Silver Beaver is for registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. It is council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Find a nomination form on the council web site and submit it to Paulette Voit.

·         District Award of Merit is for Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. Find the nomination form on the council web site and submit to your District Director.

·         “…. Of the Year” Award is for Scoutmaster, Scouter, Cub Scouter, Venture Leader, Commissioners, and Distinguished Youth .   If you know anyone worthy of a nomination for one “Of the Year” Awards, please submit a one page letter of why you think they deserve the award and submit it to your District Director or Commissioner.

·         William H. Spurgeon III Award is for individuals and organizations contributing significant leadership to the Exploring program. Nomination forms are the council web site and submit it to Paulette Voit.
